Tummy Tuck: Abdominoplasty, What is Tummy Tuck Surgery
Childbearing women especially those who have given multiple births usually manifest this problem: sagging of the abdominal area. Those who are aging and have been obese would also likely bear this condition. Whether you’re a man or a woman, such condition would likely hinder ones’ normal routine of everyday life as it decreases the self-esteem of an individual. It would make them conscious and insecure of why their body seems to be out of proportion.
This circumstance cannot just be alleviated and corrected with diet and exercise. There are some individuals who are lucky enough to be successful in this method and may not be required to undergo the invasive procedure commonly known as a tummy tuck procedure.
What Is a Tummy Tuck Procedure?
A tummy tuck procedure is a selective type of surgery wherein the client himself/herself submits to the surgery depending on one’s preference. However, prior the procedure is done, blood tests, laboratory examinations, and medical history plays a vital role in the outcome of the tummy tuck procedure.
During the ongoing surgery of the tummy tuck procedure, the plastic surgeon would usually make a transverse incision below the navel just below the pubic area near the bikini line. A certain type of incision being done for the tummy tuck procedure would matter depending on the severity of the fat deposit accumulation and in which area they seem to be more accumulated in. Hence, there are others that will not just have the transverse cut.
When an incision is made in the abdominal area, the surgeon would likely pull the muscle and skin up and tuck it in to give it a much more smoother and uptight tone. This would lessen the sagging of the skin in the area, hence providing the client a positive outcome worth the pay.
Is a Tummy Tuck Procedure Painful?
A tummy tuck procedure is usually done under general anesthesia. That would ensure that the client would not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure. However, after the procedure and once the anesthesia losses its kick, the client may feel some discomforts for a while. The plastic surgeon would then have to prescribe medication to help relieve the pain.
The incision after the tummy tuck procedure is expected to be shiny and red for some time during the healing process. It usually would take about 2 to 3 weeks before an individual can go back to his/her routine. Strenuous work and exercise are highly not advised to avoid dehiscence and complication in the incision site.
