People are often conscious of how they appear. So a little fix of those “ugly” body features will make you stand out from the crowd and feel beautiful about yourself. Some have full lips as their asset while some have perfectly shaped nose. However, if you feel that you do not have a perfectly shaped nose that you would like to be your best facial feature, there are a lot of clinics offering surgical services to fix the imperfections in your body.
Nose surgery is also known as rhinoplasty. In rhinoplasty, complex procedures are involved which aims to surgically reshape your nose. Oftentimes, the affected areas are the inner structures of your nose also making the patient’s breathing improve. Sometimes nose surgeries are done under severe medical conditions such as fractured nasal bones or deformed nose due to accidents or congenitally acquired. The purpose of a nose surgery is for the nose to have a more pleasing harmony with your other features in the face and for the patients to feel good about themselves.
The whole surgical operation of rhinoplasty involves procedures before and after the surgery. The nose surgery before and after results enables the patient as well as the surgeon to evaluate whether the results are satisfactory. However there are procedures for the pre-operative and post-operative phase of nose surgery.
Pre-operative Rhinoplasty
In the initial phase before your surgeon conducts the nose surgery, laboratory tests will be required to confirm whether you’re in good condition to undergo the operation. Some surgeons may ask the patient to take certain medications a week or two prior to the surgery. However, it is necessary that the patient avoids aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, herbal supplements, and the like in the two weeks prior to surgery. Taking other drugs or food supplements may increase the chance of excessive bleeding during the operation. It is also advisable that you will not wear any makeup on your surgery schedule. Another precaution that the patient has to take is avoiding tight clothing worn around the head like headbands.
Post-operative Rhinoplasty
The nose surgery before and after procedures also includes the post-operative stage. The post-operative stage of nose surgery is the most complicated stage of the whole nose surgery process. Some of the dos and don’ts in the after results of nose surgery include:
- Never blow your nose unless your surgeon instructs you that it is now safe to do so.
- It is necessary that you change the dressing regularly as instructed by your surgeon. Keep the nasal splint in place and keep it dry.
- Rest is very much important since stress can cause you prolonged swelling or bleeding. Sometimes, nose job swelling may cause a longer recovery tine.
- Use sunscreen with a minimum of 15 SPF after a week following the operation when going out of your house.
- Always do follow up visits with your surgeon for him or her to track down your wound developments and advise you for your recovery.
